After years of desperately wanting to, I have finally started work on archiving music made by women in Women's Liberation Movement in the UK.
I have been working in collaboration with Frankie Green who played drums with the band Jam Today. Together we have created the Women's Liberation Music Archive which was launched in May 2011.
You can access the archive at http://womensliberationmusicarchive.wordpress.com
Since October 2010 we have been collecting archival material that will help us map the grassroots music made by women in the UK and Ireland from 1970-1990.
Its a massive undertaking and we will continue to collect material for the immediate future.
As a precursor to the WLM Music Archive, I also made a blog documenting one my favourite 'lost' feminist bands from the 1980s, The Fabulous Dirt Sisters.
The blog includes photographs, oral histories, biographies, information about other bands of the time and, of course, music.
