Feminist agit-prop theatre in the 1970s

For the past two years I have been collecting archive material and oral interviews about Sistershow, the agit-prop feminist theatre collective in Bristol who were active in the early years of the Women's Liberation Movement.

I have conducted a number of interviews with original cast members and am actively seeking out more people to talk to about their experiences and memories.

Red Chidgey and I have written a paper together called 'Complicated Inheritance: Sistershow and the Queering of Feminism' which has been accepted for publication by the journal Women: A Cultural Review. I will publish it here when it is has gone through all the reviews and a final copy is available.

I have put together a funding bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to support a publication and exhibition commerating Sistershow. I would like to use Sistershow as a vehicle to tell the story of the early days of the Women's Liberation Movement in Bristol. I willl hear about the funding decision in September, 2010.

If you would like me to come and share some of my research at a community group or seminar, please drop me a line.
