As part of Anushiye Yarnell's Heavenly Love project, Davida Hewlett interviewed me about my research on Kate Bush for her piece Bubble Writing (On Heavenly Love).
Davida's performance-lecture enacted the interrupted subjectivity of maternity, embodying personal anxities which related femininity as an unstable yet defiant space.
Davida's observations about Heavenly Love drew upon Kate Bush, and she used the ideas I developed within my thesis - such as the relationship between rebirth, motherhood and creativity within Bush's music - to foreground her own impressions about the artist.
There are plans to develop the material in this piece in future collaborations, including a book and other performances.
I am very interested in hearing from other artists who are using Kate Bush's work as the basis for their own, so if you do please get in touch.
